Durban SAPS secures two rape convictions

Rapists were convicted to 20 and eight years separately.

DURING the month of July, Durban Central Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) investigated two cases of rape, where the accused were convicted and sentenced to 20 years and eight years imprisonment.

According to Const Zanele Khomo from Durban Central SAPS, on 5 July, the Durban district court convicted and sentenced Clement Enyeka, (30), to 20 years imprisonment for raping a nine-year-old girl.

“It is alleged that between December 2015 and 8 August 2016 the girl was raped by her uncle, Enyeka, who lived with them in South Beach, Durban,” said Khomo.

“The case was taken up by the FCS and Enyeka was arrested on 29 August 2016. He made several court appearances until he was convicted and sentenced. Det Const MP Dlani from FCS Durban Central worked tirelessly to put this man behind bars,” said Khomo.
