Family of four dies in horrific Durban CBD crash

A father and his son, who were traveling in the second vehicle, were also injured in the crash.

FOUR people have died and two others were injured in what has been described as a horror car crash last night.

Reports from the accident scene allege that two vehicles collided at the corner of Anton Lembede (Smith) Street and Dr Yusuf Dadoo (Broad) Street in Durban central.

Both vehicles are said to have crashed into a fast food restaurant with one of the vehicles landing on its roof.

A woman, who was ejected from one of the vehicles, was found in a critical condition by paramedics.

Garrith Jamieson of Rescue Care, said paramedics tried to stabilise her, but she went into cardiac arrest.

“Despite resuscitation efforts she was declared dead at the scene,” he said.

Jamieson confirmed this morning that the deceased were a family – the mother, father and two children.

“The children were approximately in their late twenties and early thirties, the parents approximately 50,” said Jamieson.

A father and his son were travelling in the second vehicle.

The driver of the second vehicle was also critically injured and rushed to hospital.
