Gold Cup offers exciting end to Champions Season

Organisers of the event have pulled out all the stops to make Super Saturday 2018 an experience that everyone will remember for years to come.

HOT on the heels of the fabulously stylish and exciting Vodacom Durban July comes the next major highlight on the racing calendar. Super Saturday on 28 July marks Gold Circle’s grand and golden finale to the Champion’s Season which will see the sport’s major players returning to the Cape and Gauteng.

The R1,25-m eLAN Gold Cup, considered the country’s primary thoroughbred marathon heads a full and exciting programme of events second only to the Vodacom Durban July day and promises a day of fashion, food and the best that horseracing can deliver.

Organisers of the event have pulled out all the stops to make Super Saturday 2018 an experience that everyone will remember for years to come.  Among the new additions to the day is the availability of private, beautifully set-out picnic sites on the lush green lawns alongside the track.  The sites come complete with outdoor furniture and décor as well as catered packages which include delicious gourmet picnic baskets, fine refreshments,  entry tickets on the day and complimentary betting vouchers. From these premium sites you can watch some of the country’s best thoroughbreds gallop right past where you are sitting, adding to the excitement and general ambiance of the day.

Other food options include a street food market with a smorgasbord of culinary delights from fancy waffles to gourmet burgers and gin tins.  There will be dedicated areas for the public to sit without having to miss any of the exciting racing.

For corporates looking to entertain VIPs, there are a number of private rooms with stunning views available along with a choice of hospitality options which include bespoke bar facilities, private betting facilities and private bathrooms.

Mark Taylor, chief executive of eLan Property Group,  said the day’s event  is a chance to relax with customers and associates and an ideal opportunity for everyone in attendance to network.

“The race day is also the culmination of a competition in which we give away a piece of land at Blythedale Coastal Estate worth R1million. The outcome of the marathon eLan Gold Cup race determines who wins this, so it is a dramatic day all round,” he said.

To win, racegoers  are required to complete an entry form on race day. The winner will be the “virtual owner” of the horse that wins the eLan Gold Cup race.

Punters will receive a R30 complimentary betting voucher when purchasing an entrance ticket. All tickets are available at Computicket and at the gate at Greyville Racecourse.
