Police move protesting municipal workers off Electron Road

The protestors used heavy earth moving equipment to block the road.

DISGRUNTLED municipal workers who blocked Electron Road earlier today with heavy graders are being moved by police

Senior Superintendent Parboo Sewpersad of Metro Police said police had received a call this morning alerting them to a municipal workers protest in Electron Road, Springfield behind Makro.  When Metro Police arrived they found tractors and heavy earth moving equipment had been loaded onto the backs of trucks blocking the road.

In a video clip of the protest action posted by Police pics and clips on its Facebook Page and shared below, workers can be seen moving a grader and  bulldozer to block the road and in the process damaging to the road.

Snr Supt Sewerpersad said the protest is believed to centre around salary grading structures.
