Pesky thieves target cemetery flower stall

MOTH Flora is hoping to install a container in place of the hut which has been broken into four times.

THERE have been four break-ins reported at the MOTH Flora, facility based at Stellawood Cemetery.

According to Louisa Hitchcock, who is part of the team that works at the stall selling flowers, the break-ins have occurred over the past year. Each time thieves gained entrance by breaking the door to the hut.

“We have had two gas bottles stolen, our coffee mugs were taken along with the coffee, tea and sugar. The donations box was also vandalised. Surely it must have dawned on the people doing this that there is never any money in that hut. Unless it was just vandalism for vandalism’s sake,” she said.

Louisa said it had been suggested that they try and get a shipping container as it would prove a lot more difficult to break into.

“I will be appealing to two companies as possible sponsors,” she said, however any possible donations would be appreciated.
