Solidarity with Palestine march

"The ambitious dream of negotiations and peaceful dialogue have long since evaporated."

THE People Against Oppression (PAO) comprising a range of civil society organisations is hosting a Palestine Solidarity Protest March and Rally on Saturday, 2 June starting at 1pm outside the intersection of Dr RD Naidu and Alpine Roads and proceeding on Felix Dlamini Road to Overport Secondary School.

“The protest is in solidarity with the Palestinian people who in the past 7 weeks, have come out in thousands in The Great Return March, a peaceful protest to demand Right of Return to their Homelands. In return, 112 Palestinians (including 5 children) were killed and over 13000 were injured. The crisis is exacerbated by the complete shutdown of services in Gaza,” said PAO Co-ordinator Ahmed Hansa.

He said the ambitious dream of negotiations and peaceful dialogue have long since evaporated and it is now up to the international community to take the cause to new heights and further sanction Apartheid Israel.

“While the world looks to Mandela’s nation and the success story that is South Africa, we should be taking the lead in this struggle for liberation. Among the guests attending will be Reverend Ntuthuko Nkosi – spokesperson of Kairo Palestine Southern Africa and Bishop Rubin Phillip – Anglican Diocese of Natal,” concluded Hansa.
