Ten years for rock thrower

The man was also linked to another two rock throwing cases.

THE Durban Regional Court sentenced Nkosinathi Mthalane, (27), to 10 years imprisonment for malicious damage to property, on 24 May.

It is alleged on 17 February at 6.45am, a man was travelling west bound on the N3 near Tollgate Bridge in his VW Polo. While driving he spotted an unknown man on the bridge and thereafter heard a bang.

He realised that a rock had shattered his windscreen and immediately stopped the vehicle. The victim together with his passengers saw the suspect fleeing. They gave chase and managed to apprehend him.

Mayville police were immediately contacted and a case of malicious damage to property was registered. Following preliminary investigations the accused was linked to another two rock throwing cases reported at Mayville SAPS. He made several court appearances before he was sentenced.
