Gordon Road girls showcase Easter art

he winning team from Gordon Road Girls’ School found inspiration from nature.

EASTER at Musgrave Centre took a creative spin this year with the centre inviting local schools, Berea Primary, Durban Primary, Gordon Road Girls’ School and St Anthony’s, to submit art works which were displayed in the centre.

Each of the participating schools were given a blank canvas as well as art sets where teams of six then worked together to create original masterpieces.

Marketing manager Adeela Haffejee was overawed by the talent of the artworks from all the schools.

The winning team from Gordon Road Girls’ School found inspiration from nature, creating a symbolic metamorphosis featuring caterpillar to butterfly amongst signature Easter eggs. Their artwork was selected by an interactive voting process through Musgrave Centre’s Facebook page, where they received over 700 likes.

Each of the girls’ from the winning team received SterKinekor movie tickets as well as a lunch at Nandos in the Centre. Gordon Road Girls’ School also won exhibition space for three days at the mall which went towards their fundraising efforts, as well as the opportunity to promote their school.
