Glitz and glam at charity ball fundraiser

The Sunflower Fund held its annual fundraising charity ball in association with IBV Gold on Friday.

THE Sunflower Fund held its annual charity ball at the Elangeni Hotel on Friday night, 11 May.

Guests were treated to entertainment by compere, Liesl Coppin, as well as music by singer, Sam Peo and local artist, Evan Roberts.

Speaking at the event, Stephanie Berry from The Sunflower Fund said her heart was filled with gratitude as she looked across the room and saw faces of the people who have supported the charity ball for the past 12 years, as well as gratitude to see new faces of people supporting the fundraising event for the first time.

“We are committed to see an even greater impact through The Sunflower Fund this year and we celebrate partnerships with organisations in the US, Africa and UK. We are pleased to say we were officially a Stem Cell Registry on 21 March. Our donors and sponsors help us to do the work we are doing to help people with leukaemia and their families,” she said.

Guests were shown a video of testimonies of people who have survived the disease, which brought tears to the eyes of many present.

The auction on the night, hosted by Graeme Hawkins from Gold Circle, raised an amount of R116 750 for the Fund.
