THE Democratic Alliance in eThekwini has condemned the attack on ward 58 Councillor, Geoff Pullan.
According to the party’s caucus leader in eThekwini, Nicole Graham, Pullan was assaulted by his ward committee secretary during a ward committee meeting on Wednesday. Graham said a dispute had occurred between the two over the register. “Councillor Pullan’s head was hit against the wall and window and he suffered bruises and abrasions to his bead and body,”she said.

The matter was reported to the Durban North SAPS and a case was opened. Councillor Pullan has also reported the matter to the Speaker’s office and requested that the ward committee be dissolved.
“This kind of thuggish behaviour has no place in a democratic society,” said Graham, adding that the matter required urgent attention by both the city and the SAPS..
