Body found at Durban beach

The body of a man who drowned at the Durban beachfront was discovered out at sea last night.

THE body of a man has been retrieved from North Beach after a fisherman hooked his line into the body last night and alerted police.

A police diver from the Durban Search and Rescue Unit swam 500m out to sea to pull the body to shore.

Provincial police spokesperson Lt Col Thulani Zwane said police were called to the scene in the early hours of Friday morning and an inquest has been opened at Durban Central SAPS for further investigation.

Earlier this week, the body of a man was found floating in the water on Wednesday, outside the Port of Durban.
