Assistance sought in rape cases

Durban Central is urging the community to assist in solving a case of rape.

DURBAN Central Family Violence, Child protection and Sexual Offence Unit is appealing to the community for assistance in two cases of rape under investigation.

According to Const Zanele Khomo, it is alleged on 1 March at about 7.15pm, a woman, (21), was walking in Lilian Ngoyi (Windermere) Road when she was approached by a man who grabbed her and forcefully raped her.

“Police believe the man in the identikit they have can be of assistance in solving the case,” said Khomo.

In a second incident, on 15 February at about 3.45pm, a woman was at a building in Durban waiting for her friend when she was approached by a man who offered her assistance regarding accommodation.

“They went to the 11th floor where she was given a room and thereafter was raped by the man. Police believe the man in the identikit they have can be of assistance in solving the case,” said Khomo.
