Good arrests by Berea SAPS

Good arrests were recorded by Berea police this week.

BEREA SAPS made good arrests for various crimes over the past week.

On 1 April at 1pm, police were patrolling along Berea Park Road, Essenwood when they noticed a suspicious-looking man carrying a packet.

“They stopped and searched the man and found electric cable in his possession. He was questioned where he got the cable from and it was later established that he broke into a home in Berea Park Road and stole the cable,” said Capt Poobalan Naidoo from Berea SAPS.

He was charged for housebreaking and theft.

A security guard was patrolling in Holstead Gardens Road, Morningside on 7 April at around 9.40am, when he noticed a man breaking into a car parked on the road.

“The guard arrested the suspect inside the motor vehicle before he could steal anything. The police were called and the suspect was detained for attempted theft of motor vehicle,” said Naidoo.

He said the management and staff of Berea SAPS thank the community and security companies for assisting in the fight against crime.

“Together we can make a difference,” he said.

Naidoo said there were also two arrests during the week for possession of dagga and one for driving under the influence of alcohol.
