Child Welfare Durban celebrates 100 years

Child Welfare Durban and District will host an event on Saturday, 24 March at Blue Lagoon Conference Centre.

CHILD Welfare Durban and District will host World Social Workers Day in celebration of its 100 years of child protection services.

Child Welfare acknowledge all past and current social workers who have contributed to this milestone achievement and will also thank all members associated with this journey to success.

Although international “World Social Workers Day” is celebrated on 20 March, Child Welfare Durban and District will host the event on Saturday, 24 March at Blue Lagoon Conference Centre from 9am to 2pm.

This event will also take participants on a journey of how the Durban branch became the largest Child Welfare in South Africa.

The highs, lows, challenges and milestones social workers are faced with on a daily basis will be highlighted. Renowned guest speaker, Zeni Thumbadoo, Deputy Director of National Association of Child Care Workers – South Africa, will attend.

All social workers, dignitaries and people associated with NGOs, charity work, CSI programs, lecturers and students or those who are in the social work and development careers and hope to create awareness about this profession, are invited. Welfare is also encourages the youth to attend to take an interest in this field of work.
