Police seek your help in solving rape cases

Assistance is being sought by Durban Central SAPS regarding two rape cases in Durban.

DURBAN Central Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit is appealing to the community for help with their investigation in cases of rape.

In the first case, it is alleged that on 1 November 2017 at about 3pm, an eight-year-old girl was waiting for her brother in Rutherford Street in the Point area when she was forcefully grabbed by a man and pulled inside his vehicle.

“The man drove off towards the 10th South undercover parkings where the victim was raped. The victim could not describe the vehicle,” said Const Zanele Khomo from Durban Central SAPS.

Police believe the male in an identikit can be of an assistance in solving the case. Anyone with the information of his whereabouts is urged to contact Det Sgt Hlengiwe Masondo on 031 325 4142 or 071 875 9834 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

In a second case, an 18-year-old woman was walking in Warwick Avenue near the market on her way to Mayville on 7 February at around 2pm, when she was approached occupants in a black Golf.

Khomo said: “The motor vehicle had four occupants unknown to the victim. They pushed her inside the vehicle and drove away to an unknown place where she was raped by all four men. The victim did not manage to take the registration of the vehicle.”

Police believe the men in the identikits can be of assistance in solving the case. Anyone with the information of their whereabouts is urged to contact Det Sgt Dlamini on 031 325 4116 or 079 500 0297 or Crime Stop.
