March is orchid show time

All orchid lovers and keen gardeners are invited.

AVID orchid fans are in for a treat in March when these stunning plants are put in the spotlight at the Natal Orchid Society’s annual Autumn Orchid Show.

The event is on Saturday, 17 March from 10.15am to 4pm and Sunday, 18 March from 9am to 3pm to view the display at Parkhill Bowling Club, off Umhlanga Rocks Drive, Durban North.

All orchid lovers and keen gardeners are invited to visit the show where oncidiums, cattleyas, dendrobiums, vandas, plus many more, will be on display.

Potting demonstrations will be held on both days and a wide variety of orchids will be on sale for those who want to add to, or start, their own collection. Raffles will be held offering orchids as prizes.

Light lunches and refreshments will be on sale in the tea garden. Entrance fee is R15 and children under 12 are free.

Orchid-growers and anyone interested in owning and nurturing these beautiful plants are invited to attend the monthly meetings of the Natal Orchid Society. Meetings are at the Parkhill Bowling Club on the second Monday of every month at 6.30pm.
