KZN Film Commission training opportunities

The programme runs for 10 days with workshops, self-study and practical work.

The KwaZulu-Natal Film Commission (KZNFC) is offering two study programmes for persons interested in sound production and budgeting and scheduling. This is in an effort to contribute to an enabling environment to job creation and transformation. According to the Film Commission, a baseline study was conducted in 2015 highlighting the skills gap in the KZN industry and it is responding to the need for skills in the province.

The Sound Production for Film and TV course embraces the principles of sound technology and how it relates to Film and Television. The programme runs for 10 days with workshops, self-study and practical work. The programme is at no cost to the selected participants. The Budgeting and Scheduling for Film and TV course aims to prepare filmmakers with the knowledge on how to break down a script and create a budget and production schedule. The programme runs for 10 days with workshops, self-study and practical work. The programme is at no cost to the selected participants.

Requirements for the programmes are that candidates must be over the ages of 18 years, they must come from a previously disadvantage background and preference will be given to women, youth and people with disabilities. Candidates must also have been exposed to at least one film production and have good written and verbal communication skills. Applicants must indicate clearly, which programme they are applying for.

Applications must include a motivation (maximum two pages) explaining why they should be considered for the programme. A CV, with a detailed profile of work experience and a copy of their Matric certificate and all qualifications post matric accompanied by a certified copy of your ID.
