Watch: Anarchy is the only language they understand says Unisa SRC

"We will be forced to shutdown all Unisa campuses in the country." - the Student Representative Council

AS frustrations mount at Unisa over the National Student Funding Scheme’s (NSFAS) delay in allocating funds to students, the Student Representative Council (SRC) says has warned that should the matter not be resolved quickly, they will be forced to shutdown all Unisa campuses in the country.

Speaking at a media briefing at the Durban campus earlier today, the national President of the University, Zandile Sodladla said: “A huge chunk of our students have not received funds from NSFAS, we are getting very impatient and tired of this. It seems the only language they understand is anarchy.”

SRC also accused the NSFAS of being arrogant, referring to the funding scheme’s no-show at the briefing. NSFAS was expected to address students at the meeting at the campus.

Student organisation South African Students Congress (SASCO) said it would be embarking on a walk-about on Friday, to highlight the harassment students experience at the hands of whoonga addicts. It is alleged that a student was stabbed this week by a whoonga addict.

During the briefing a scuffle broke out after Economic Freedom Fighters Student Command (EFFSC) tried to force their way into the hall were the briefing was being held. According to the Student Command, the SRC had prioritised the media over students.
