Unique programme creates jobs

Accredited training Learnership programmes have been introduced to young matriculants.

TO address the serious challenge of unemployment in South Africa, MICT Seta Limco Consulting, Sky Media and Iqraa Trust have introduced accredited training learnership programmes to young matriculants that combines theoretical studies and practical training at various work places.

In 2017, 95 learners were distributed over four classes, including IT, Media Production and two business administration classes. The duration of the learnership programme was one year in which learners had to complete four months’ theoretical training, and thereafter eight months’ workplace experience. During these placements employers were asked to introduce learners to their companies and allow them to work alongside employees doing jobs related to the learners’ field of study.
