Hospital supports Natal Settlers

A local hospital raised R27 000 for The Hepburn Children's Unit at Natal Settlers Memorial Homes.

STAFF of Ahmed Al-Kadi Private Hospital raised over R27 000 in support of The Hepburn Children’s Unit at Natal Settlers Memorial Homes.

The CSR project was driven by each department of the hospital where two initiatives were run, the “Raffle For A Cause” and the “Tastes of the World in 35 Days” campaign. The “Tastes of the World in 35 Days” campaign was a huge hit as each department hosted their own theme and flavour each week for just over a month. The response was phenomenal as orders were coming in for the various food items on sale.

Ahmed Al-Kadi Private Hospital opened its doors in April this year and since has embarked on numerous CSR projects benefitting the community. The Hepburn Children’s Unit initiative was special in the hearts of many of the staff of AAKPH and was the key factor in ensuring the success.

All contributions were used to make the children’s home a colourful and fun place to be. “Education and sensory toys are important in the development of a child, they help inspire a child’s imagination. Just as the kids may have been excited to see their improved play rooms, it was an exciting moment for us to cherish always,” said Suraiya Vaizie, marketing manager.

The 41 children at the home have special needs, 13 of the children are cot bound and 28 are wheelchair-bound.

“We encourage all other healthcare facilities to also drive similar CSR projects, it is only by our selflessness that we are able to make a difference in our country,” said Ahmed Docrat, hospital general manager.

The hospital thanked KFC Sherwood for going the extra mile by providing the specially pureed kiddies meals.
