Signal finds forever home

Freedom Ride Powerbreed Rescue helped in relocating Signal from Johannesburg to find a permanent home for the dog.

A RECENT rescue, a dog named Signal, has finally been adopted into his forever home.

This amazing little boy was perceived to be deaf and his life of neglect and abuse has left seasoned animal activists shattered.

Nicole Jack of Freedom Ride Powerbreed Rescue (FRPR) is part of a team that helped in relocating Signal from Johannesburg, as was Sue Meiring and her daughter Kelly.

Signal’s plight was brought to the attention of FRPR. After being tagged on Facebook and seeing the photos of the abused dog, it was a collective decision to help in his rescue. After a visit to two veterinarians it was thought he may have been sexually abused over a period of time. With that abuse comes medical problems that would need constant care.

Brett Farrell and David Hardwick of Freedom Ride Powerbreed Rescue (FRPR) offered to help give this boy a new lease on life by bringing him to Durban.

A desperate plea was posted on Facebook seeking a home for Signal by Nicole Jack who is responsible for FRPR adoptions and fostering.

“Even though our story about Signal was shared more than 796 times, only a handful of people applied and those applications found their way back for processing,” Jack said.

Jack said during this period an amazing family stepped up to help foster while the hunt for his forever home was on. She was relieved when they finally found a safe and loving home for the dog. Signal was finally adopted by Barbara Morgan who told us that Signal had ‘crept into her heart.’

“Although many of these neglected and abused animals are overlooked by the public for various reasons, so many of these animals respond so well to a safe and loving environment. Our plea to the public is to support animal rescue, whether it’s providing a safe home, fostering or donating financially towards veterinary bills, food, blankets and toys. The best donation of all would be your time, whether it’s visiting or walking these animals while waiting for their forever homes,” said Jack.
