Sewing group seeks new home

"The Cato Manor Clinic now requires these rooms for its own needs, and the sewing group no longer has anywhere to meet."

THE Siyathunga Sewing Group, based in Cato Manor, is looking for a new home.

The group was founded in 1993 by Moireen Stacey. The group meets weekly for three hours. Since its inception, the group has met at various venues in the Cato Manor area. Over the past few years they were able to use a room and a storeroom, free of charge, at the Cato Manor Clinic.

“The clinic now requires these rooms for its own needs and the sewing group no longer has anywhere to meet. Furthermore, they have been asked to vacate the storeroom as soon as possible. A storeroom is essential to the operation of the sewing group because most of the sewing machines are kept there between sessions, as well as fabric that has been donated but not yet used,” said Val Cotterell, Moireen’s daughter, who runs the group.

Val said the group is desperate for a room and a storeroom, anywhere reasonably close to Cato Manor. Val is also appealing for someone with a truck, bakkie or SUV to help them move when premises are found.
