Glenwood spruced up ahead of festive season

The Parks Department is planting flower beds and cleaning up parks in ward 33.

KEEP an eye on ward 33 where the Parks Department is hard at work beautifying the ward by planting new flower beds and cleaning up the parks in the area ahead of Christmas.

Jennifer Rampersad, District 7 Horticulturist, and her team planted three flower beds along Lena Ahrens Road on Monday, and will attempt to plant three beds a day along the road from King Dinuzulu (Berea) to Helen Joseph (Davenport) Road.

“The idea is to beautify the area, as residents have asked for something to be done. We have planted indigenous plants which will grow naturally, need less maintenance and don’t need water supply,” said Jennifer.

She said clean-ups had been conducted at the park in Davenport Avenue as well as Dunkeld Park and the team would be tackling parks in the area every Monday up until Christmas.

“We are also planting at Resistance Park and Bulwer Park at the moment and will be tackling Allenby Gardens and Moelyn Mews parks this week,” she said.

Jennifer said the vegetable garden at Congella Park had also be cleared and was being prepared for replanting. A contractor has been found to propagate at the park.

“We are excited that a proposal for electrification at Congella Park has been approved and is ready to go, and will be putting a power supply in at the top toilets and the recycling area at Congella Park,” she said.
