Help runners raise funds for Open Air School

Chad Petterson and Timothy Kelly have partnered with the school to achieve its goal of renovating the physiotherapy department

OPEN Air School is encouraging further sponsorship for two local runners who will take on the Lesotho Ultra Trail Race next weekend to raise funds for the school’s physiotherapy department.

Chad Petterson and Timothy Kelly have partnered with the school to achieve its goal of renovating the physiotherapy department, which caters for 300 learners with physical disabilities, visual impairment, those who are blind and learners on the autistic spectrum.

The runners have pledged to sponsor all the proceeds from their fundraising initiative through their participation in the 51km race on 25 November.

Mobility Solutions started off the sponsorship with a pledge of R1 000 and individuals and businesses in the community are urged to match this pledge or beat it.

Rene Naidoo from the Open Air School said the sponsorship will provide therapy in a suitable therapeutic and stimulating environment for the learners with special needs at the school. She said the school wishes to make necessary adaptations to its existing physiotherapy department by partitioning the hydrotherapy area from the general treatment area to facilitate maximum use of the limited space. They would also like to instal airconditioners in the therapy area to provide a comfortable environment for conducive therapy.

If you can help with a pledge for this good cause, contact physio@openairschool.co.za or call Seema Kalyan or Vicki Thorpe on 031 205 1277 (ask for physio department).
