Woman arrested for abducting Durban toddler

The woman is set to appear in the Durban Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

A 59-YEAR-OLD woman was arrested on Monday after allegedly abducting a two-year-old boy.

The arrest came after Durban Central SAPS sent out an urgent public alert on Monday, 30 October, to help find toddler, Bandile Mbulu, who had gone missing on Friday.  The little boy was last seen at Warwick Avenue. It is alleged that he was with his mother when he disappeared.

According to police spokesman Captain Nqobile Gwala, Mbulu was found at around 3pm on Monday. “He was brought to Isipingo SAPS by a woman who found him and was re-united with his family,” she said.

Gwalan confirmed that the woman had been arrested and charged with kidnapping. The woman is set to appear in the Durban Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
