Teamwork conquers crime, says Berea SAPS

Capt Naidoo from Berea SAPS said partnerships with the police will help to reduce crime in the area.

CRIME-FIGHTING partnerships between the Berea SAPS, security companies and the public resulted in the arrest of a thief.

According to Capt Poobalan Naidoo from Berea SAPS, Ranger Security control room received a call regarding a remote jamming suspect at a filling station in the area.

“After a car chase through Berea which ended in the CBD, Ranger Security together with Berea and Mayville SAPS arrested the suspect on charges of vehicle theft, theft out of motor vehicle and remote jamming. More charges and cases are currently being investigated,” he said.

He commended all members involved especially Capt Stevens, Sgt Dennis and W/O Moodley of Berea SAPS for their quick response and Cst Dlamini and Cst Khubeka for their backup and assistance in making this arrest possible.

“Together we will get back our streets!” he said.

Naidoo said in another incident on Sunday, 24 September, Berea SAPS crime prevention officers were patrolling along Lilian Ngoyi (Windermere) Road when they received a complaint of house breaking in progress in the road.

“They responded and arrested one suspect with the assistance of Blue Security and stolen property was recovered. The other suspects drove off in a panel van with some of the property. Further investigation will continue,” he said.
