Taryn’s mother was alarmed when she said she was traveling to Columbia and thought she would be kidnapped, or someone would put drugs in her bags, but Taryn found a beautiful country of soaring mountains, steamy jungles, white Caribbean beaches and rich anthropological history.

She presents her talk entitled Colombia – beyond cocaine and cartels, speaking about the country which has struggled to recover from years of violence and corruption, and the genuinely warm and caring people who are trying to overcome their reputation as the drug capital of the world.
