Glenwood family frantic as pup goes missing

Sharon Moosa said Kingston, a 7-month-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, went missing on Tuesday morning, 5 September.

A GLENWOOD resident has been left devastated after her dog, Kingston, was stolen from her property in Edmonds Road.

Sharon Moosa said Kingston, a 7-month-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, went missing on Tuesday morning, 5 September. He is the beloved pet of four distraught children and companion to an older fur baby.

“The heartache his disappearance has caused us since he’s been missing is devastating and we will not stop hunting for him. His companion, Malek, is feeling the loss just as sorely as us,” said Sharon.

Sharon said Kingston had been taken between 9am and 10am on 5 September.

“My domestic worker was at home at the time and was hanging washing at 9am. He and Malek were there with her, as they always are. They are home dogs, and like to be around us. My tenant had gone out at 10am and noticed Kingston was gone,” she said.

Sharon said Malek was older and tended to dash out and return if the gate was open, but Kingston never went out.

“These dogs are not keen to wander, they like to be home with people. My husband drove around for three hours on Tuesday looking for him and I left work early to drive around. We spent six hours altogether looking for him. We even went as far as the Pavilion, but there was no sign of him. We can only think someone stole him out of the property. If he had been lost, someone would’ve picked him up and taken him to the SPCA or a vet. He is microchipped so we would’ve been contacted,” she said.

Sharon said she was trying to understand why someone would want him, whether it was to sell for money or to breed with him as he was unneutered.

“We’re frantic to find him. I have been a basket case since Tuesday. We have visited the SPCA and vets, we have made fliers and given them to everyone and have posted on social media, which has reached 58 000 people. Although we’ve received great support from the community, we haven’t had one lead. No one has come forward,” she said.

She said the family was offering a reward for the safe return of Kingston. If anyone has any information, they are urged to contact 083 227 5278.
