A GROUP of caring people worked hard at Davenport Square on Friday as they took the initiative to ‘rise against hunger’ in a food packing programme.
The project was held in collaboration with Rise Against Hunger Organisation. The aim was to get 20 volunteers to assist to pack 5 000 meals in two hours. The group managed to complete the packing 20 minutes ahead of schedule. The Stop Hunger Now initiative is a meal packaging volunteer-based programme, that coordinates the assembly-line packaging of highly nutritious dehydrated meals comprised of rice, soy, vegetables, and 23 essential vitamins and minerals. The programme is created to give dedicated individuals the opportunity to participate in a hands-on hunger relief programme, and to become educated, engaged advocates for the countries hungry.
