Join CROW for World Clean Up Day

If you would like to help CROW protect the environment and wildlife, join the team at Kenneth Stainbank on 8 September.

IN celebration of World Clean Up Day, CROW – Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife – will team up with the Wilderness Leadership School to clean the Umhlatuzana River that runs through Kenneth Stainbank, a 253 hectare reserve established in 1963.

Litter is one of the biggest challenges facing wildlife. CROW has seen many cases of innocent wildlife that succumb to their injuries caused by litter.

A Swift Tern was admitted to CROW with a fishing hook caught in his mouth. When the tern arrived at the centre, it was very dehydrated and undernourished. The CROW team managed to surgically remove the hook, but the tern was unfortunately too weak to survive the procedure.

If you would like to help CROW protect the environment and wildlife, join the team at Kenneth Stainbank on 8 September. The clean-up will start at 9am. The group will meet at the gates and make its way down to the river. Take a black bag, gloves and lots of water.
