Dumped pooch seeks loving home

She is a very sweet dog who will need a special home where she will be loved and cared for and treated the way she deserves.

A six-month-old pup, which was tied up in a bag and dumped on the side of the road, has been given a second chance to find a loving home.

When the Durban and Coast SPCA received a distressing call on Tuesday morning 3, August, from two women who had been working in a field when they witnessed a person in a silver car pull over onto the side of the road and throw a red sack out of the vehicle, it did not hesitate to immediately dispatch Inspector Cody Fermin to the site. Inspector Cody was appalled to find that the sealed bag contained a live dog. He cut a hole in the bag to provide ventilation and took photos for evidence, before releasing the young dog and returned to the SPCA located just five minutes from the site, with the dog.

“Thankfully she had no medical issues when she came in and she bounced back so quickly. Within half an hour of being here she was looking for love and hugs!” said Lindsey Concer of the SPCA.

Lindsey said the dog loves to play, walk around the property and enjoys being with the other dogs. “Sheis a happy, trusting and loving six month old dog who needs a special home where she will be loved and cared for and treated the way she deserves,” she said.

“She is now up for adoption and it would be wonderful if she could find a home where she will be loved, she’s been through enough already. She needs someone who will be willing to train her. She is still a pup and is still very playful, which is normal for her age,” she said.

Lindsey said the Durban and Coast SPCA wanted to make the public aware that anyone could hand in any animal as unwanted at any time.

“You will not be judged, turned away or charged any money. Abandoning an animal, especially in such a manner is cruel and against the law. We will accept animals at any time, our security is available on site 24/7. Please consider the fate of the animal before simply dumping it on the side of the road, and offer it a second chance. Thankfully this sweet pooch has been given that chance,” she said.

Should anyone have any knowledge regarding the owner of this dog, contact the SPCA urgently on 031 579 6501. The witnesses unfortunately did not get the number plate or brand of the vehicle.

If you would like to adopt this dog, the reference number is 61845. Contact 031 579 6525/6.
