India – What travel brochures don’t show you

A talk by Charles Botha features a most fascinating part of India, often frenetic, at times even funny, but also filthy.

THE Botanical Society of South Africa KZN Coastal Branch presents an unusual talk on Northern India on Monday, 14 August at Durban Botanic Gardens Visitors Centre at 6pm.

The talk by Charles Botha, entitled India – What the travel brochures don’t show you, features a most fascinating part of the country, often frenetic, at times even funny, but also filthy. With the same quirky humour as in his previous immensely popular talks, Botha shows photos that most tourists would never think of taking.

This is definitely not a standard travelogue, so be prepared for some shocks. Although it deals mainly with “non-touristy” matters, it also touches on the tremendous sights for those who want to travel there or nostalgically remember their trip. Various wildlife, including beautiful birds, and some interesting plants are also featured.

Entrance including refreshments is R50 for members of BotSoc, R65 for visitors and R35 for students with cards.

Pay at the door. No need to book. For enquiries, email: botsoc-kzn@mweb.co.za or call 031 201 5111 or 071 869 3693.

Proceeds from this event go to the Botanical Education Trust.
