GRADE 7 learner from Durban Primary School, Qhawe Ngubo, has been awarded the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation Scholarship.

Qhawe, who is currently the headboy at Durban Primary School, will start Grade 8 at Maritzburg College next year.

Caleb Dlamini, scholarship director, said he was impressed with the quality and determination of the emerging entrepreneurial leaders identified throughout the selection process, and the organisation was excited to start this journey with Qhawe, to encourage him to become a high impact responsible entrepreneur.

Speaking about his achievement, Qhawe said: “This is a phenomenal opportunity for me to reach my future goals and the future career I aim to pursue as an entrepreneur.”

School principal, Shaylene Miller, said she was extremely proud of Qhawe. “He has been an exemplary learner from Grade 1 and I identified his potential from young to be a head boy. I couldn’t be happier that he has been chosen for this scholarship,” she said.

Deputy head principal, Jeff Veerasamy, said Qhawe was a real gentleman and was very deserving of this achievement.
