DURBAN Girls’ College Board of Governors has announced its new executive team whose task it will be to take the school forward.
The selection of the team required the processing of applications from candidates out of top schools both nationally and internationally, as well as from within the school itself. “We looked for a team with deep Christian values, as well as a true commitment to embracing the diversity within our community. The stringent criteria identified individuals with integrity, a vision for education in a rapidly changing environment, and strong, respected, calm and rational leadership attributes equipping the individuals and the team to make decisions, implement strategy, and drive it to successful completion,” said Michelle Posemann, Chairman of the Board.
Heading up this team, new Executive Head Marianne Bailey embodies everything that DGC was looking for to navigate the future. Her teaching experience spans over 37 years, with more than 20 years in school leadership and management roles in KwaZulu-Natal. Marianne has also been examining and moderating for the IEB since 1988, as well as sitting on the examining panel. Her management roles in schools, is across a wide spectrum of disciplines, bringing vast experience to the holistic role she will now fulfill.
Heather Goedeke now assumes the critical, newly created portfolio of Executive Strategy, after 30 years in a hands-on role in the classroom and throughout her school environments. A double honours graduate in English and political science, Heather brings with her a wealth of experience from portfolios held internationally and at top schools locally.
To complete the team, Jeanine Montocchio, who holds a Masters Degree in Accounting, expands her position from Bursar to Executive Finance.
“We believe that we have created a leadership structure that will maximize and enhance both the individual and the collective strength of this team and we are excited about the possibilities this creates for our school,” said Posemann.
