DHS celebrates its founders

There will be special events hosted to celebrate founders' day at DHS this weekend.

DURBAN High School will be celebrate its 151st birthday with the usual pomp and ceremony this weekend.

On Friday, 2 June, the pre-Founders’ Day events will be rolled out and will include the Founders’ Day assembly at 8am in the DC Thompson Hall. All Old Boys of Durban High School are invited to attend this special assembly which is held specifically to honour them. In addition, a special tribute will be paid at the assembly to longstanding staff member, Mr AJ Human.

The DHS Foundation Trust Golf Day will follow at the Durban Country Club, with tee offs from 10.32am at a cost of R350 per person or R1 400 per 4-ball. The day will then culminate in The DHS Old Boys’ Foundation Trust Dinner from 7.30pm in the DC Thompson Hall at Durban High School (255 St Thomas Road, Musgrave). All Old Boys are invited to attend and will be seated in their respective years. Tickets cost R350 each.

To round up the birthday celebrations, Durban High School will host its traditional Founders’ Day, on Saturday, 3 June, with special guest, Mr AJ Human.

The rugby fixtures for the day will be played against Westville Boys’ High School. Games begin at 8am and the 1st XV game will kick off at 3.15pm.

The traditional Sundowners cocktail party will be held in the AJ Human Room after the 1st XV game.
