MAJOR routes in and around Durban have been affected this morning due to taxi protest action.
While the South African Taxi Association was given permission to protest peacefully at a strike in Prospecton, several taxi drivers also blocked off main routes into the City.
Some of the routes affected include the the N3 near the Mariannhill toll plaza, the N2 south before the uMgeni turn-off, the N2 south near Ballito, the N2 at Galleria, West Street, Berea Road, Francois Road and Umbilo Road.
The N2 north Prospecton as well as the N2 at Joyner Road have been completely closed.
According to Netcare 911 the area is unsafe.

It is believed workers are striking against a hike in the cost of the Toyota Quantum.
