WATCH: Marchers call for more security to protect women

DUT students, political parties and eThekwini Municipality organised a march this morning against violence on women.

VIOLENCE against women was top of mind at a protest march organised by the Durban University of Technology Student Representative Council,  eThekwini Municipality and various political parties.

The march follows in the wake of a wave of media reports where women have been victims of violence, in many instances at the hands of the men closest to them.

Students at the march this morning sent out a strong message saying enough is enough with violence experienced by women. The students will be handing over a memorandum to the city demanding that security be increased in the city and at schools.

The mayor, Zandile Gumede, is expected to address the march later today.
