BREAKING: Motorist robbed, shot after breaking down on N2

A third motorist has been attacked and robbed while waiting for assistance after breaking down on the N2.

A 58 year old man has been shot after his vehicle broke down on the N2 Durban bound just after the new Umgeni Interchange.

According to a Kyle van Reenen from Marshall Security,  the incident occurred just after 8.30pm this evening. The man was approached by an unknown number of suspects who attempted to rob him.  A shot was fired and the man was hit in the left shoulder, sustaining serious injury.

He was attended to by advanced life support paramedic from Crisis Medical before being rushed to hospital. The scene has been handed over to the SAPS.

Since Friday, two other incidents have been reported of motorists robbed and stabbed by assailants after breaking down on the N2 and waiting on the roadside for assistance.
