“Such successes can be attributed to our targeted and informed deployment of operational resources in line with the back to basic approach. We are appealing to residents to take extra precautions when entering or leaving their residential premises as this is a common spot for criminals to hijack vehicles. Always be on the lookout for people lurking at stop streets, robots or intersections under suspicious circumstances.”

“The suspects who were arrested will be profiled to establish if they are not linked to any other hijackings in the province,” Major General Langa said.

The victim arrived at his residence in Cato Manor on Thursday at around 6pm and was confronted by two men who arrived in their own vehicle.

They threatened him with firearms and forced him out of his vehicle before fleeing with his car. Police were alerted and immediately began tracing the hijacked vehicle.
