Man killed in collision

By the time paramedics arrived and assessed the victim, he had succumbed from injuries sustained.

A man, believed to be in his forties, has been killed after the vehicle he was driving crashed into a tree in Bellair Road, Durban in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Operations Director of Rescue Care, Garrith Jamieson said paramedics arrived on the scene  just after 1am..

” We found that a single vehicle had veered out of control and left the roadway colliding with a tree down an embankment. The driver was found entrapped in the wreckage,” he said.

“Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained major injuries and there was nothing more they could do. The man was declared deceased on the scene. The Durban Fire Department used the Jaws of life to cut the man free,” added Jamieson.

At this stage the exact cause of the collision is unknown.
