Bojangles House takes shape

THE House of Love and Hope’s (HOLAH) new labour of love, Bojangles House, on Helen Joseph Road, is taking shape, and the community is encouraged to visit, browse the items on sale and enjoy a cuppa in the coffee shop.

“We’re up and running, and it’s all thanks to our many volunteers who took the time to help us. We had no funds to employ a carpenter or painter, and we did it all ourselves. We are so proud of how it has turned out and thank everyone who made this a reality,” said Kim Brown, co-founder of HOLAH.

She said since the opening on 25 March, there has been a lot of traffic through the house, but that the coffee shop was still taking off.

“We are trying to boost other small industries by selling things like home-made jams made by a young student, amongst other things, ” she said.

The Big Box Durban hosts Boardgame Thursdays events at Bojangles House from 6pm. The group meets every Thursday evening to enjoy board games and Kim said she wanted to encourage other clubs and forums to use the space for meetings.

There will also be a market at Bojangles House on the third Saturday of every month where boerewors rolls will be on sale and there’ll be live music. Musician, Lorraine McVean will perform at the May market.
