I Care learns to be self-sustainable

I Care staff and children have started a seed project to learn how to grow vegetables.

I CARE staff and children were recently educated on how to grow their own vegetables.

Wendy Gibson and Ace Sikhakane from Urban Management Zone visited the I Care Hope Centre in Greyville last week where Wendy educated the staff and children on a seed growing project.

She advised them on what soil to use and how to plant in egg boxes, which are biodegradable. She demonstrated how to plant seeds and made it very clear that everyone can do their bit and grow their own vegetables.

Wendy has kindly offered to assist I Care in starting their own vegetable garden at the drop in centre where the boys will assist with the gardening.

I Care would like to introduce this project to the families in its aftercare programme so they may also benefit by becoming self-sustainable.
