Public invited to attend budget, IDP roadshows

Residents are urged to give input at the budget meetings to be held across all wards within the metro.

RESIDENTS in eThekwini will have the opportunity to engage municipal officials on the City’s proposed budget, as well as aspects of the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) which shapes development and drives service delivery in the City.

EThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede emphasised the need of ensuring that all 110 wards of eThekwini are afforded an opportunity to have input on the budget.  The ward based hearings will culminate in regional hearings which will take place in the six regions of eThekwini. In addition to this, the budget will also be presented to traditional leadership and the cultural, religious and business sectors.
There will be 119 sessions of IDP Budget Hearings in three segments. This includes 110 ward meetings, six regional meetings with a capacity of 3 000 and three hearings for sector level.
The ward hearings started on April 24 and will continue throughout May. Regional IDP Budget Hearings will be held on 3 May at the Clermont Stadium in the Outer West, at Curries Fountain on 4 May in Central West and the Princess Magogo Stadium on 5 May in North Central. On 6 May a regional hearing will be held at Tongaat sportsfield in the North, on 17 May at King Zwelithini Stadium in South Central and on 18 May at Adams Mission Stadium in the South.

Residents can contact their ward councillors for details of ward meetings.
