Police hope to link armed robberies

Police will work on linking three armed robberies in the Durban area.

POLICE are looking to link an incident that occurred at a Kloof shopping centre this morning to the armed robberies that unfolded at Musgrave Centre earlier this week.

The Vodacom store at the Kloof Village Mall was hit by a gang of armed men on Friday morning.

According to Andreas Mathios, community liaison and media officer for Blue Security, one of the security guards at the mall was shot in the foot when the gunmen fled the scene.

This week, brazen armed robbers also descended on Musgrave Centre and broke into two business premises in the early hours of the morning.

Mathios said the gang of four robbers, two of them armed with firearms, had entered the centre at around 5.40am.

They broke into two shops and smashed through glass window displays, fleeing the scene with watches and cellphones, in a grey Mercedes Benz and a silver Lexus.

Mathios said police will be working on linking the robberies to the one in Kloof.

He said it was unclear whether the gang was linked to an early morning robbery two weeks ago (28 March) at Musgrave Centre when robbers fired shots as they fled after stealing clothes from a shop at around 6am.

The eight-man-gang fled in a white Audi.
