Support Diabetes SA tea

There have been 1.3 million people in our province diagnosed with diabetes.

JOIN Diabetes SA for its first Morning Tea on Wednesday 29 March at The Durban Country Club from 9am to 11.30am.

There will be informative talks by speakers including Silvana Nienaber, a homeopath who has been living with type one diabetes for 29 years. The Morningside resident will speak on the health side of homeopathy and living with diabetes.

Julie Peacock, a dietitian, who has had type one diabetes for 41 years, will address people at the tea.

“I have lived with diabetes for 41 years, and it is strong in our family.”

“It is one of the reasons why I was prompted to go into the field of dietetics. At the tea, I will speak about my experiences as well as living and eating healthily to prevent the onset of type two diabetes,” she said.

Jenny Russell, Diabetes SA Durban branch manager, said people didn’t realise the severity of the disease.

“In South Africa, people don’t seem to take notice of it.”

“There have been 1.3 million people in our province diagnosed with diabetes, and the stats are shocking, with one in eight people being diagnosed in KZN,” she said.

The tea costs R300 per ticket which includes a goodie bag, a decadent morning tea, champagne and many chances to win prizes.

Dress code is shades of blue, with a prize for the best dressed.

Tickets must be pre-booked. RSVP to Nikki Smith on nikki@key-events.co.za or Tanya Tostee on tanya@key-events.co.za.
