A 24-year-old man was arrested for housebreaking in Berea on 4 March.

According to Capt PN Naidoo, Berea SAPS communications officer, at around 11.15am police received a complaint of housebreaking in progress in Vause Road.

“They responded and saw a man coming out of the premises. When he saw the police he fled and police gave chase. He was arrested and taken back to the premises. It was confirmed that he had broken the garage door lock to gain entry,” he said.

The man was detained at Berea SAPS for housebreaking and theft. The suspect was linked to other cases of housebreaking in the area.

Naidoo said four arrests were also made for possession of drugs in the Berea patrol area.

“A word of warning goes out to the public that the police will arrest you if you break the law,” he said.
