WATCH: Still no sign of abducted baby as search intensifies

The search for Durban baby Siwaphiwe Mbambo continues and search teams head for Cato Manor this morning.

SEARCH and Rescue teams continued their search for baby Siwaphiwe Mbambo overnight, returning to the spot where the hijacking took place in Stamford Hill Road and then moving to Monclair where the white Toyota Yaris was found abandoned.

Police dogs were on scene to scour the area for clues but nothing has been found. This morning, Rescue Care paramedics have joined the SAPS Search and Rescue with the #HelpFindDurbanBaby search.  The teams are currently bound for Bellair Road and the Cato Manor Sportsground near the Albert Luthuli Hospital to continue the search.

Search and Rescue teams and police dogs combed the area late last night where the vehicle was found abandoned.

The one-month-old baby was taken during a hijacking yesterday afternoon. Her mother Sibongile Mbambo and her eight-year-old daughter were held up by two armed men who pulled them out the car and fled with the baby inside. The vehicle was later found in Moodie Street Montclair.  It had been abandoned but the baby and baby items in the car were missing.

A missing persons report has been filed and search teams are working around the clock to find baby Siwaphiwe.
