CROW says thanks

THROUGH the Compass Cares calendar campaign, Pinetown Printers, Serco, Capacity and HINO have provided much needed funds to the Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW), which was established 36 years ago with the aim of rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing injured and orphaned wild animals.

According to CROW director, Paul Hoyte, over 1 300 animals have been admitted to the CROW centre in the past four months, adding pressure on the already stretched human and financial resources of the organisation.

“Thanks to many helping hands, the CROW team was able to push through this tough time ensuring that their patients received the best possible care and treatment. Recent rains throughout the province opened a much-needed window in which releases could take place and, over this busy period, the CROW team have returned 802 animals back to their rightful place in the wild,” explained Paul.

Compass Medical Waste Services, the founders of Compass Cares and the wildlife calendar campaign which has now been running for nine years, thanked all the businesses who have sponsored pages.

“Without the page sponsors, Compass Cares would not have been able to donate R915 000 to CROW to date. As a company, we are passionate about the well-being of animals, both wild and domestic, and are delighted that our initiative could play a role in helping animals in need,” commented Ian du Randt, MD of Compass.
