Learners’ leadership skills strengthened

Apart from developing their leadership skills, the learners also participated in many traditional, fun and exciting camp games.

GRADE 7 learners at Durban Girls’ College attended a four day bonding and leadership tour at Sugar Bay resort, a holiday camp for kids and teens on the North Coast of KwaZulu-Natal.

The tour started on Tuesday and ended on Friday, last week, and 62 girls, together with three of their educators, Mrs Campbel, Mrs Bresler and Miss Smith thoroughly enjoyed every moment of being at the first and only American-styled children’s summer camp in South Africa.

“We, at Sugar Bay loved having the learners and educators of Durban Girls’ College here with us. They made the most of the camping experience by participating in all camp activities with enthusiasm. They also made great friends with our camp’s amazing counsellors. We look forward to another school tour with the incredible Durban Girls’ College learners and educators,” said the camp staff.

The learners participated in many traditional, fun and exciting camp games such as Skits and Stunts, Adventure at Sea and Minute-to-win-it. The learners were also given the opportunity to participate in over 100 free-choice activities on land such as bungee-trampoline, arts and crafts, drama and dance classes and surfing, kayaking, beach volleyball and stand-up paddle boarding at the beach. One of the highlights for the Durban Girls’ College learners was the experience and fun which the camp’s new water-slides offered.
