Robber threatens house sitter

He threatened to return and slit the man’s throat if the bank PIN code was incorrect.

AN armed robber held up a Glenwood resident in broad daylight and robbed him of his valuables on Monday.

Blue Security operations manager Brian Jackson said a man who was house sitting a property in Esther Roberts Road was held up at knifepoint at around 2.20pm.

He said the armed robber accosted the house sitter in the lounge and tied him up with electrical cables.

“He demanded valuables and fled with a cellphone, bank cards, a laptop, a bottle of rum and a 2l cold drink. He also asked for the house keys and the PIN number for the victim’s bank card. He threatened to return and slit the man’s throat if the code was incorrect,” he said.

Jackson said the robber fled through the front door.

“The flying squad attended the scene of the crime when the victim alerted the police. No injuries were reported,” Jackson said.

In a separate incident armed robbers held up cash-in-transit guards at a business premises in King Dinuzulu Road (Berea Road) at around 5.30pm on Tuesday.

“Two armed robbers held up the guards at gunpoint inside the store and robbed them of a cash box containing around R65 000. They fled the scene on foot,” he said.

Umbilo SAPS attended the scene of the crime.
